Luna Hook Tutorial: a spiritual successor to Textractor

Luna Hook (developed by HIllya51) is the easier and better version of Textractor. It has received consistent updates which makes it work with newer engines of Visual Novels (even Unity).

Download the latest English version from this link: https://sugoi-file.sfo3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/Luna_Hook.zip

Unzip the program with Winrar or 7zip or your choice. You should be able to see these files inside. Don't worry if you don't see config32.json and config64.json as they will show up later after you use the program.

Like Textractor, 32 bit games will only work with LunaHost32.exe while 64 bit games will only work with LunaHost64.exe. Most games nowadays are 64bit so you can start off with this program if you are unsure. For now launch LunaHost64 and you’ll be greeted by this screen.

Now go to settings and check the “COPY TO CLIPBOARD”. Luna Hook from now on is ready to pair with Sugoi Translator.

You can exit the settings window now and launch any Sugoi Translator of your choice

After Luna Hook and Sugoi Translator are opened, its time to launch your visual novel. For this guide I’m going to use Study Steady 2 from Marmalade.

Once you have started the game, you can hook the game with Luna Hook now. Press Select Process in Luna Hook and click on your game process.

Now start your visual novel and play out a few sentences for Luna Hook to pick up the dialogue text.

Once you see the translation from Sugoi Translator or you see the Japanese text after pasting to a text file, every works together now. Enjoy!
